What's your taste in outdoor activities? Discovery Green's Spring/Summer programming season launches April 13, 2008 so bring your family, meet some old friends or make new ones and enjoy a variety of inaugural, regular and special events custom-made for your pleasure.
Special Events
It all begins with Family Day on April 13, Discovery Green's official grand opening, with a slate of free activities to highlight the park's many features. Other inaugural season Special Events include the Art Car Party on the Green, presenting the winners of Houston's 2008 Art Car Parade and DockDogs, a canine sport competition.
Art SeriesHouston's reputation as a world-class fine arts destination extends to the Discovery Green Art Series with a full slate of visual, literary and performing arts events. Come enjoy Fresh Fridays, a can't-miss primer for Houston's unique and thriving art complex; Houston Ballet II performs traditional and contemporary pas de deux's; and the Discovery Green Reading Series, dedicated to connecting and nurturing readers and writers in Houston.
Entertainment Series
Local performers have a home at Discovery Green's
Entertainment Series, offering dance classes as well as evening and lunchtime concerts, including Blues and More and Sundays in the Park.
Healthy Living Series
If you prefer an active role in your outdoor pursuits, Healthy Living Series is the series for you. With a "green" market, yoga and pilates classes, along with exercise for adults and children, you're sure to find a match for your health and fitness goals.
Children & Family Series
What would a park be without children? Let yours explore their creative skills with the Children & Family Series featuring hands-on activities including the Children's Discovery Series and Children's Writing Workshops.
